Investigation of functional and molecular mechanisms involved in the vascular adjustments occuring in cardiovascular and endocrine-metabolic disturbances.

Dr. Ana Paula Couto Davel - Principal Investigator

Our research focuses on pathophysiological mechanisms associated with vascular alterations and therapeutic strategies for cardiometabolic diseases including dyslipidemia, obesity and undernutrition. Specifically, we investigate cell signaling and mediators involved in vascular function; perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) function and morphology; sexual dimorphism in vascular biology.

Dr. Maria Andréia Delbin - Principal Investigator

Our research focuses on investigating 1) the effects of aerobic exercise on vascular function; 2) mechanisms involved in vascular control by perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT); 3) assessment of coronary function in an experimental model of diabetes; 4) assessment of microvascular function and cardiometabolic biomarkers in diabetic women and men.
