The program offers a variety of courses, including basic and applied, theoretical, and practical courses and seminars.
Do I need to be a regular enrolled student to take a course?
Not necessarily. You can take a course as a special student, but this will depend on the prerequisites set by the course coordinator.
How many courses (credits) do I need to take in the program?
The number of credits required for a Master's or PhD student in the Graduate Program in Molecular and Morphofunctional Biology is determined by the Graduate Catalogue to which the student is linked. The graduate catalogues are published annually by the Academic Directory (DAC), which makes them available on its webpage. The Master's course can be completed in a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 36 months. To obtain a Master's degree in Molecular and Morphofunctional Biology, the student must complete a total of 16 elective credits. The PhD course can be completed in a minimum of 24 months and a maximum of 54 months. To obtain a PhD degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology, the student must complete a total of 12 elective credits.
What courses are offered?
Courses are offered according to the criteria established by the Program and faculty members. Each semester, a selection of specific courses from the PPG-BMM, as well as a set of courses offered by the other graduate programs of the Institute of Biology (some of which can be taken by students from the Graduate Program in Molecular and Morphofunctional Biology to fulfill the credit workload) are open for student enrollment. An update of the courses to be offered in the next academic semester is done every semester, allowing students to schedule their enrollment and activities, taking into account the courses they are interested in. A list of course can fe found at the DAC website.
